At 10am Raj was stressed about the Seminar, he said, this is for the first time he is nervous about it. The reason was obvious, its was not a college, college.....Its was GyanDeep Mahavidyalaya....Going there was an experience in itself. About 15kms from Jaipur, it took us 45minutes to be there, with the kind of road, actually I should say the condition of the roads, that too at the NH-11...actually it was not exactly there but yes, a road parallel to it, towards Dausa...I am sure many people don't know about it, but people from Jaipur are much aware of the place and can imagine the kind of roads and place that is. Anyways, I don't want to talk about the roads because,we can't do much about it.. But about the college or so called Mahavidyalaya is one thing I really want to share with all. A college with just four room building....with black boards..actually it was looking more like a government school then a college. Anyways, I would like to leave this issue as well, because, again I can't do much about it,in fact I can't do anything about it. But yes, the actual experience started when we entered the place and saw students playing some ball game outside, in the heat...obviously when there are many people, or rather we are with our friends, its hardly matters about the weather, as I remember that, when I was in Chennai,me and my friend Akanksha used to chill out the entire day,and everyone is much aware of the weather in Chennai or places like Pondicherry....but anyways, back to the college were the students playing....in the name of the lecturers their were only two teachers there..Actually before we reached, a teacher of that college met with an accident,so the entire staff (I have no clue,as to how many teachers cum lecturers were there actually) went to the hospital, wherever this was hospitalized. Anyways, they managed to ask students to gather in a classroom (I thought it will a seminar hall, at least a hall, but it was a small class room, where they arranged the chairs for everyone) don't ask me about the total strength of the students, because that will be a reason for all to laugh, but it is all right with the kind of the place and the environment, even a few students can make a difference. So far so good, we were about to start the seminar, before that we decided that it will be a seminar in Hindi, as they will not be able to understand what we are saying if we will use English as a medium or language for coomunication... Ohhhh, before that, did I tell you the topic of the seminar was "English Language Communication cum Personality Development". Although we knew that its going to be baseless seminar which has nothing to do with Personality Development at least. So, we went inside the class, managed to settle ourselves and Raj started intereacted with people....trying to talk and interact in Hindi he was a little conscious, and its fine. He went ahead shared things with them and asked certain questions like, why are you studying??? What do you want to do in life? Some of the answers were funny, like...one of the students among them was there just for time pass, one said, because everybody else is studying so he decided that he will too go for it......
By such answers anyone can expect the standard of the college and the students. Finally we managed to give 15minutes to such type of questions and unexpected answers, the moment we were about to begin the actual Topic, one of the officer from the Administration department came and informed us about the critical condition of the leady teacher who was in the hospital and requested us to wind-up the seminar. It wasn't enough....now see what he actually said to the students,he said all the sudents to gather on the raod, and asked the guys to carry stones with them and also ordered them to block on road and stop all the buses. He said that these kind of accidents can happen with anyone, so they are going to protest against it, and to do that, they will stop all the buses and might also break the glasses of the vehicles passing by...
It just made us think about the kind of education that is being provided to those students, they can only head towards politics nothing else, that too bad politics. If the teachers are going to ask students to fight, who will the responsible for the kind of environment, that is getting created. I know, even its our responsibility to convince those students not to fight, but isn't it necessary for the lecturers there to make them understand that they have come to study and not to fight or take action and decision against whatever has happened. Trust me such things happen and we blame the police....now obviously the question occurs in my mind, as to why we blame others, aren't we responsible for the same.
As always,no answer to these questions.....We moved from there and came back to our office with an experience which is still not over,as there were students who want us to be there once again and complete the session. Lets see whether we do it or not, but one thing for sure...that we realized, that people have potentials to do and achieve whatever they want to, they just need a proper guidance and good sources.
And the experience is to be continued.................
For you Raj, I still don't want to go there again....

really an eye opener....
why were u giving a seminar at village college neway?
This incident does not only throws light on the type of institute, but also shows that there is a real shortage of good teaching staff in our country, due to which any "Tom, Dick or Harry" gets a job for which he/she is not at all suitable.
There are 'n' number of institutes which have grown like mushrooms in recent years and are functioning just for taking a short-cut to the road to El-dorado, keeping other necessary prerequisites at bay...
They are least interested in activities like, what type of faculty they are hiring, what other infrastructural developments they have done, or are planning to do in near future, what is their mission and vision (not just taking captivating statements from good books.)
I feel that such institutes do not have a proper HR department and there are only 2 or 3 persons who take all the necessary decisions and also are poor at judging people. Hiring some one for such a respectable job like teaching is not just a task in which one has to go through a CV, and an unavoidable interview, but judging also includes a rigorous process in which a person's EQ & IQ are tested. It has to be taken into consideration that, how a person behaves in different situations, and in what manner will that action lead to a reaction. I will not go any further in HR practices.
There is one more problem in such a situation, i.e., hardly 1 or 2% of the total educated population in our country wants to go in a profession like teaching, so sometimes the post remains vacant, and sometimes we have to compromise with such an experience which will stay continued...
wow... keep on writing...
